The Warrior Method: A Parent's Guide to Rearing Healthy Black Boys

In 2001, Ray Winbush published The Warrior Method:  A Program for Rearing Healthy Black Boys.  The book is based on the traditions of Poro Society, the most ancient rite of passage ritual in West Africa, where 85% of Americanized Africans have their genetic roots.  The Warrior Method is an extension of the rituals and teachings of Poro Society adapted for African boys growing up in white supremacist societies.  It has been taught to hundreds of educators and parents throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and the Caribbean.  In 2004, the Will and Jada  Smith Family Foundation donated $50,000 to establish The Warrior Institute at Morgan State University where Winbush directs the Institute for Urban Research.  The generous gift allowed others to receive first hand instruction on TWM by the author of the book.
